Our Reading Scheme is Changing

We are pleased to inform you that, with immediate effect, our school reading scheme is changing from Monster Phonics to Read Write Inc. (RWI).

Read Write Inc. is a highly structured phonics and early reading programme that supports children in developing strong phonics knowledge, reading fluency, comprehension and confidence. The programme provides a consistent approach to phonics teaching and reading across the school.

As part of this change, children will begin using Read Write Inc. reading books that closely match the sounds and phonics skills they are learning in school. This will help children practise reading at the appropriate level and build confidence through successful, repeated practice.

We recognise that any change to a familiar reading system may take a little time to get used to. We will support children carefully throughout the transition and ensure that the change is as smooth as possible.

We are excited about this new approach and the opportunities it will provide to further develop our children's reading skills and foster a lifelong love of reading.
