We listened to the events leading up to Jesus’ascension to heaven.
We looked at different artwork depicting the ascension scene. The children had two pictures to discuss with their group and decide which one they liked, before writing why they liked it. What could they see?
Today is Ascension Day. We discussed how the disciples must have felt when Jesus left them. The children know that He went to the Kingdom of Heaven. The children gave their opinion what the Kingdom of God looks like.
To celebrate Ascension Day the children went into groups and acted out being the disciples and Jesus and sated our Jesus leaving them.
In Year 2 we have been looking a Easter symbols.
The class researched the Paschal Candle. The Paschal Candle is a beautiful reminder that Christ's presence is among us. The candle is also known as the Easter Candle which is lit on Saturday before Easter Sunday.
The class have labelled and design their own candle.
Year 2 have been looking at the history of different religions in Liverpool. As part of this topic, they visited the Anglican Cathedral. They studied the history of the building, the layout and important objects in the building too. They also sketched their favourite parts of the cathedral.
Year 2's RE topic in Autumn 1 is My World Jesus' World. In the topic we have been learning about the food, clothes, jobs and homes that were available during Jesus' time in the world. We have been comparing Jesus' world with our world today.
