In 3P we have been exploring the life of French painter Henri Rousseau.
We have looked at his life and all the fascinating facts such as: He never had an art lesson in his life. He only started painting properly when he retired. He never visited a jungle and didn't know how to paint bananas.
Henri Rousseau was born in 1844 in Laval France and died in 1910 also in Laval. He painted so many pictures of the jungle using oversized flowers. .
The children each week have been looking at Rousseau's pictures and comparing the foreground, middle ground and the background to each pictures. The children are also able to pick out the centre of interest and name some paintings.
We have painted each week our own Rousseau inspired painting.
The children made their own Rousseau Jungle with rain forest animals and a variety of leaves and over sized flowers in the foreground, middle ground and background.
