Geography

At St Cleopas, we believe that children should leave the school fascinated by the wonders of Earth and with a curiosity to further explore its human and physical features. They should recognise connections and seek explanations about how the world works. We aim to provide children with a wealth of opportunities to apply their skills in both the local area and beyond, leading their own learning through questioning, researching and fieldwork.

Fieldwork is an important part of our curruculum and is planned into many of our topics. We also participate in National Fieldwork Week as a whole school in the summer term. Look through the galleries below to see some of the meaningful fieldwok taking place at our school.

The children in nursery exploring the school grounds to find the best hiding place for Mr Wolf.

Year 3 and Year 4 exploring features and landuse of the local area. The children collected data and suggested improvements that could be made to a local park.

Year 2 had a virtual trip to the seaside during their topic about coasts

Year 5 exploring the impact from local retailers and leisure centres on pollution in our local area

Year 2 finding evidence to support their understanding of seasons.

Nursery explored the school grounds and then created some ‘messy maps’ to represent the features they had found.
