Non-chronological reports

Year 2 are exploring non-chronological reports. We spent some time looking at this type of text in the ICT suite and in our library. We read and compared the information and layout as well as using contents pages and index sections to locate specific information.

Stories from the same author - Julia Donaldson

Very dramatic scenes in Year 2 as we acted out one of our favourite Julia Donaldson stories - Room on the Broom. It was great fun sharing our dramatic scenes and trying to work out which characters each child was taking the role of.

Today we used our listening and deduction skills to work out which Gruffalo character we are. It took great skill to give clear information which could be a clue as to the character, but not giving away too much!

We explored Julia Donaldson books reading and enjoying them while analysing their features.

We worked hard to recreate texts in the style of Julia Donaldson. During our shared class work we wrote letters to Julia Donaldson and to our excitement received a reply from Macmillan Children's Books! smiley
